WILMA’s Leadership Institute: Meet Kelly Maher

Snapshot of this year's Leadership Institute members

WILMA’s 2024 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each others’ personal board of directors.

The program is part of WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative, created to help develop more women leaders in our area.

Meet institute member KELLY MAHER.

Kelly Maher

MaherTitle: Global Business Continuity Manager

Company: HAVI

How long have you been with your current employer? 1 Year

Alma Mater: Virginia Tech (Biology), Tuck School of Business (Executive Education)

Prior career experience:I worked as a U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in various locations working protection assignments, financial crime investigations, identity theft, and protective intelligence.  After the USSS, I worked in business continuity and global security for a SaaS company, Levi Strauss, and Kohl’s.

Current job responsibilities: My current role is the global responsibility of establishing a business continuity program at HAVI as the Global Business Continuity Manager for 10,000 employees in 160 global locations.  Business Continuity involves ensuring the business can maintain critical functions after a disruption to business processes.  It involves a duty of care to employees, facilities, and outside vendors to lessen financial, operational, and reputational impacts. HAVI is a global, private company consisting of Stanley1913, tms (The Marketing Store—responsible for Happy Meal toys, McDonald’s Monopoly promotions), and supply chain.  HAVI started in 1974 to meet the demand for McDonald’s supply chain in Chicago and is now worldwide.

Hobbies: My family and I are currently restoring an old house.  I love spending time with my family, traveling, and art/antiquing.  I’ve tried to take the Master Gardener course here and would love to advocate for a course for those of us working full-time.  I also am passionate about rescue dogs, especially hounds with heartworms, and getting them in healthy loving homes!
