WILMA’s 2022 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each others’ personal board of directors.
The program is part of WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative, created to help develop more women leaders in our area.
Meet institute member HEATHER BARCUS.
Heather Barcus
Title: Compounding Pharmacist
Company: Medical Center Specialty Pharmacy
How long have you been with your current employer? 6+ years
Alma Mater: South Carolina College of Pharmacy, University of South Carolina
Prior career experience: Pharmacist, Walgreens Pharmacy
Current job responsibilities: I currently help manage daily operations with a team of 10+ employees, oversee lab functions for non-sterile lab as well as compound all sterile products currently offered by our pharmacy. I work alongside pharmacy staff to educate providers and patients in 20+ states on specialty compounded medications and manage clinical media communication across our social media platforms.
Hobbies: I enjoy our local beaches with my family, becoming immersed in the cultural arts community of Wilmington- whether through local food, music, or art- and traveling when opportunities present!
