WILMA’s 2022 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each others’ personal board of directors.
The program is part of WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative, created to help develop more women leaders in our area.
Meet institute member COURTNEY TOWNSEND.
Courtney Townsend
Company: UNCW Watson College of Education
How long have you been with your current employer?: 5 years
Alma Mater: Stonehill College: Bachelor of Arts and University North Carolina Wilmington: Masters of Education
Prior career experience: New Hanover County Schools Educator
Current job responsibilities: Coach and mentor future teachers through a critical portion of their educational program. For many, my time with them is their first experience writing lesson plans with a purpose – their first real student! Lead the Future Teacher Career Academy, a collaboration between Isaac Bear Early College and UNCW.
Hobbies: Traveling with my husband and our dog; gardening; reading and enjoying live music.
