WILMA’s 2022 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each others’ personal board of directors.
The program is part of WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative, created to help develop more women leaders in our area.

Colleen Coons
Title: Strategic Marketing and Business Development

How long have you been with your current employer?: 1 year 2 months (joined January 2021 shortly after moving to Wilmington)
Alma Mater: Wake Forest University (BA), UNC Chapel Hill Kenan-Flagler Business School (MBA)
Prior career experience: Condé Nast Account Executive (brand partnerships and marketing for The Lifestyle Division: AD, Bon Appétit, Condé Nast Traveler, Epicurious, SELF); TastingTable.com Integrated Marketing; RF|Binder Partners Public Relations/Integrated Marketing
Current job responsibilities: Responsible for the overall company marketing strategy and implementation, including branding, advertising, and public relations, in addition to business development—focusing on our Wilmington and South Carolina markets—and select client/project management.
Hobbies: Spending time with my husband and 17-month-old daughter, staying active (running, power yoga, being outdoors), cooking and home entertaining, dining, travel, and home design/landscaping projects.
