Personal trainer reveals holistic approach to wellness
ERICA STILLMAN is the founder of Holistic Lean Method, a fitness training program.
After struggling with digestive and acne issues her whole life, she decided to get into healthcare.
“Years of working at the hospital and in-home healthcare, I learned how much more nutrition, healthy habits, and therapy it takes to help the body collectively,” Stillman says. “That’s when I realized I wanted to help people with their quality of life in a different way than aftercare and just common medicine. I knew I’d be more resourceful in preventive care.”
Through Holistic Lean Method, Stillman seeks to help women elevate their self-confidence and grow into the highest versions of themselves, she says.
“I’ve created my step-by-step method to help women tone up, lose stubborn weight, eat healthily, establish body movement, and create life-lasting results,” Stillman says.
She shares her current workout schedule, nutrition, inspirations, and tools she uses to maintain her health and fitness goals.

“My holistic approach is like dissecting your life into a pie chart. It gets categorized into SLEEP, DIGESTION, EATING, MOVEMENT, and SELF-CARE. My method goes deeper into what your body is consuming on the internal and external levels. It could consist all the way from what you’re digesting to the products that are going on your skin.”
What do some of your current workouts consist of?
- Tuesday: hot interval training
- Wednesday: weightlifting
- Thursday: HIIT
- Friday: weightlifting
- Saturday: yoga or running
“My body likes different things on different days, our bodies also go through seasons, one day I might really like one thing and the next season I could be training for something totally different. My non-negotiable is dancing. I do that every day. When I wake up, in the car, at the studio, etc.”
Current nutrition: “Home-cooked meals mostly! I have a few dietary restrictions. I make sure I’m eating a good balance of my macros, good fats, vegetables, and carbs. Every morning I drink a “Liquid Gold Gut Shot” and drink green or milk thistle tea to help with digestion. I also home-brew homemade kombucha for a probiotic. My significant other and I also grab meal prep for the week from Green, Lean and Clean.”
Apps/technology you use to assist you in your health goals:
Food: MyFitnessPal, Prodiet, Ate Food Journal app
Workouts: Garmin Connect (adaptable to my watch), Nike Run app
Health: Omvana (mediation), Audible, BrainTap Pro (sleep)
“To help assist my clients, they use Trainerize for tailored workouts.”
What are some ways that you get motivated when you might be getting off-track?
“Accepting, breathing, understanding, meditating, and move on. The biggest principle to understand is that we are human, we all make mistakes but I’m the one in control and I’ve got big goals and dreams to work towards. Keep looking ahead, not focusing on the past. Drink some water, stay hydrated. When you do something enough, you’re creating it into a habit, then I’ll fall in LOVE with the results.”
