Fall For This

What's new for fall

This season, there were so many trends and so little time. From strategically placed ruffles to shearling-lined coats and sandals fit for the fall, the fashion forecast is filled with exciting new looks. We suspect that a few of these runways hits will be popular in the Port City, too. Be on the lookout for these new trends.

OFF THE SHOULDER This summer staple will continue well into the fall, with the shoulder-baring detail making an appearance in blouses, dresses, and even coats. Pair this trend with large earrings or a bold necklace. Marie off-the-shoulder BLOUSE by Gianni Bini ($69), available at Dillard’s

STATEMENT CHOKERS Forget the statement necklace, try the statement choker. The thin, velvety variety harken to a decade from not so long ago. But if you’re adventurous, take your cues from the Balmain runway and go big! The larger the choker, the better. Love Rocks Rhinestone Disco CHOKER ($56.61), available at asos.com

(Left) CHUNKY BOOTS They say fashion always comes back around, and the trends of the ’90s aren’t any exception. If you were particularly fond of the chunky boots à la Spice Girls, you’ll be pleased to know that these funky boots are returning with a vengeance, as seen on the runways for Balenciaga and Marc Jacobs. Valita BOOTIES by Jeffrey Campbell ($180), available at jeffreycampbellshoes.com

(Right) THE SLIP DRESS Yes, it was popular all summer. But this sort of staple can transition into the cooler season, too. Layer over your favorite turtleneck and rock on! Colorblock SLIP DRESS ($159), available at Ann Taylor
