The latest on WILMA’s summer leadership programs
RECAP: The latest on the WILMA Leadership Initiative and its mission to empower women to lead with confidence and purpose
LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE: The 2026 WILMA Leadership Institute class kicked off its nine-month program with orientation in April. At the orientation, the forty-eight women learned about communication styles from The Forté Institute, participated in PickleBall Corporate Teambuilding’s court experience that mixes the game with leadership lessons (above), met with Institute alum, and heard from WILMA Leadership Initiative advisory board member Sheri Leavens for networking in motion. The class will meet monthly this year in the program.
GET ON BOARD: UNCW’s Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO) held a board training session for WILMA readers on April 8 at The Harrelson Center’s Plaza on Princess. Joining QENO director Fletcher Daniels was a panel of community board members and executive directors Dori Bishara, Meade Van Pelt, and Linda Thompson to share advice about connecting with and serving on boards.
MENTORING: This year’s group of WILMA mentors and mentees have been meeting one-on-one each month to work on the women’s professional goals.
