Looking to sharpen your skills? Make connections? Each month, WILMA will highlight upcoming business-related events in the area to help you track down ways to get involved as part of the Women to Watch Leadership Initiative.

March 1: The Greater Wilmington Business Journal’s POWER BREAKFAST 7:30-9:45 a.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center focuses on how officials plan to leverage attention from May’s Wells Fargo Championship golf tournament into long-term business opportunities. Click for more.

March 2: The INVESTORS ROUNDTABLE OF WILMINGTON meets at noon at Country Club of Landfall, with speaker Joseph Elegante, senior portfolio manager and executive director with UBS. Elegante, who is based in Chicago, talks about global sustainable investing. Click for more.

March 7: As part of the WILMA’s Women to Watch Leadership Initiative, chef, best-selling cookbook author, and restaurateur VIVIAN HOWARD visits Wilmington for a lunch event. The talk, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., is at the Wilmington Convention Center. Click for more.

March 7: CFCC’s Small Business Center offers a free seminar on HOW TO START A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION 6-9 p.m. at the school’s Health Science/Learning Resources Center in downtown Wilmington. Click for more.

March 7: BCC’s Small Business Center also has a free business seminar on SOCIAL MEDIA TIME SAVERS, targeting small business owners who want to engage and make connections but using time-saving tools and practices. The seminar is at the school’s center in Leland. Click for more.

March 7: The POWER OF THE PURSE benefit is 6-8 p.m. at the Country Club of Landfall, including a designer purse silent auction and raffle benefiting Wilmington Health Access for Teens. Click for more.

March 11: The Junior League of Wilmington’s annual ROAST ON THE COAST is at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. The event raises funds for the group’s service initiatives in the community. Click for more.

March 14: The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce holds its 150th ANNUAL MEETING 5:30-8 p.m. at CFCC’s Union Station with Gov. Roy Cooper as the keynote speaker. Click for more.

March 15: UNCW and Marine Bio-Technologies Center of Innovation host a FISH 2.0 workshop for entrepreneurs developing technologies and ventures that promote a sustainable shellfish industry. The workshop is March 15-17 at UNCW’s CREST campus. Click for more.

March 16: Elizabeth Weirick, the president of Milwaukee Downtown, Business Improvement District #21, is the keynote speaker at Wilmington Downtown Inc.’s DOWNTOWN ECONOMIC SERIES LUNCHEON 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center. Click for more.

March 17: Brunswick Community College holds its sixth annual SUSTAINABILITY SYMPOSIUM AND EXPO, focusing this year on Sustainable Logistics: Saving Money through Supply Chain Innovation. Click for more.

March 17: The PINK RIBBON PROJECT cocktail party and celebration, featuring speaker Meg Caswell, a Wilmington-based interior designer, TV host, and winner of HGTV’s Design Star, takes place 7-11 p.m. at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside. Click for more.
