Groom for Good: SaltyDawg’s Commitment to Local Rescue Dogs
At Salty Dawg Pet Salon + Bakery, we believe every dog deserves to look and feel their best, and that includes dogs waiting for their forever homes. That’s why our entire team is so excited to launch our Groom for Good program, an initiative focused on supporting local animal shelters, rescue organizations, rescue support organizations, and the dogs in their care.
A big part of Groom for Good is helping raise awareness for local rescues and shelters and connecting our customers with the important work they do. Our Rescue Wall will showcase information about local rescue organizations, and we will conduct meet-and-greet events and fundraising efforts to help support those rescues. Already we have meet-and-greets planned with Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue – NC, The Unforgotten Souls, and Hamilton’s Healing Hearts.
Our goal is for Salty Dawg to be a welcoming place for rescue dogs and the people who care for them; whether they’re looking to adopt, volunteer, foster, or simply learn more about how they can help.
A Little TLC Can Make a Big Difference
Another important part of Groom for Good is providing grooming services directly to rescue organizations. Many rescue groups get their adoptable dogs by pulling them from the local shelters. These dogs may have come from very undesirable situations, and a bath, brush-out or haircut can make an incredible difference in their comfort and confidence.
One of our goals is to work with those rescue groups to provide grooming services at the salon to help improve the health of their coat, skin, ears, teeth, and more to get them started on the path to a match with a forever home.
We also want to support dogs after they’ve been adopted. As part of Groom for Good, we’re planning to provide grooming coupons as part of adoption kits for people who welcome a rescue dog into their family. These services will give newly-adopted dogs and their families a little extra support as they get started together.
Taking Grooming to the Shelters
We also know that shelter staff and volunteers have their hands full caring for animals and managing the many day-to-day demands of rescue work. Finding time to handle every dog’s grooming needs can be a challenge.
That’s where we hope to step in.
Our groomers plan to visit local shelters and rescue organizations to bathe and groom dogs on site. Whether a dog needs a simple bath, a trim, or help removing uncomfortable mats, we’re excited to put our skills to work where they’re needed most.
For us, Groom for Good is about more than grooming. It’s about using what we do every day to make a positive difference in the lives of dogs and the people working tirelessly to help them.
We’re planning to officially launch the Groom for Good initiative in the fourth quarter, and we can’t wait to get started. We look forward to partnering with local shelters and rescues, introducing our customers to adoptable dogs and, most importantly, helping more dogs feel their best on their journey to finding their forever homes.
