Be a part of our annual awards issue
WILMA magazine is adding a new facet to its annual WOMEN TO WATCH AWARDS ISSUE in October – an open call for local artists to submit original works of art depicting strong women in the categories of Arts, Business, Education, Health, Public Service, Nonprofit, and Rising Star.
The annual Women to Watch Awards spotlights regional women who are the movers-and-shakers, the disruptors, the inspirations for successes to come.
Thirty-five finalists are selected in seven categories: Arts, Education, Health, Business, Nonprofit, Public Service, and Rising Star (under the age of 30). Each year, WILMA dedicates much of its October issue to introducing and celebrating the finalists.
This year, we are introducing an open call for artists to submit original artwork featuring empowered, professional female leaders. A work of art will be selected to run in the magazine with each Women to Watch category.
One piece will be selected as the cover of the magazine. The artist whose piece is chosen for the cover will also receive $200. All of the artists whose works are selected will be listed with bio and contact info in the October issue, our social media channels, and website.
Artists are invited to submit up to three entries. Entries must be 2-D. Photography will not be accepted, but photo illustration or collage will be considered.
If selected, artists must be able to provide WILMA with high resolution (300 dpi minimum) images at least 8.75” x 11.125”. Vertically oriented pieces are preferred.
Show us your vision of women in leadership!
While entries are not required to depict a woman in one of the seven awards categories, we will be factoring in how all the images work together for the spread’s layout. Submissions can be new work inspired by this project or a piece of your existing portfolio.
Artwork previously displayed in public is still very much eligible for consideration.
To submit: Please send an electronic copy of the original art in JPEG, TIFF, or PDF format. Files should be less than 9MB. If your artwork is selected, we will ask for a larger, high-resolution version.
Email submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org. The submission deadline is September 4.
