The coast is the kind of place no one wants to leave, and everyone wants to visit. It makes selling and managing real estate constantly busy and exciting, something that JENNIFER BROWN knows very well.

Brown, who was recently selected as president of the Brunswick County Association of Realtors (BCAR), has lived in Eastern North Carolina all her life and is a graduate of East Carolina University.

“After working in advertising, I started my real estate career in 2006 when my family relocated to Brunswick County,” Brown says. “I worked in residential sales initially and then property management before coming back to the sales side as a managing broker. My passion is helping others, and that is why I love what I do.”

Brown joined Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage as the managing broker of the South Brunswick offices in January of 2016 and is now serving a term as president of BCAR.

“BCAR is the local level of the largest trade association in the nation with members comprised of Realtors, appraisers, and affiliate members,” Brown says. “Our mission is to be the model for advancing the real estate industry by providing Realtors with tools and services to support their success.”

In addition to that, one of the things Brown is very focused on is professionalism in the industry, another goal at BCAR.

“Even though I no longer help buyers and sellers directly, I am able to help my agents who, in turn, help them and that is very fulfilling,” Brown says.

This year has seen a remarkable uptick in real estate sales, and with home values continuing to increase, there is a lot to learn, and having the right guidance is crucial whether buying or selling, she says.

Providing buyers and sellers with agents that are highly trained and knowledgeable with the tools necessary to complete jobs successfully is crucial to advancing the incredibly active market that exists today.

“I really just want the members to know I am there for them,” Brown says. “I have an open-door policy and am happy to talk to anyone about anything whether good or bad. I like hearing different points of view and brainstorming on how we can do things better.”

She says she also wants to continue to evaluate its tools and services to ensure that they are providing the members with what they need.

“I want to continue to do anything I can to educate agents because I believe this is the No.1 way to increase professionalism in our industry,” she says. “My term as president is only one year, but I will remain on the board of directors for one more year after that as past president. Even after my term on the board, I will still be involved at the committee level.”

Luckily, Brown has a lot of support from her board, the CEO, and other members which gives her confidence about the outlook of the BCAR to achieve all the goals it sets for itself annually.

“We have great staff and many committees comprised of members that work very hard and have great ideas and input, so that makes things easy for me,” Brown says. “My favorite part of being president is the interaction with our members. I love serving our members and listening to what they have to say.”
