A New Chapter Built on Experience, Relationships, and Community

This post was written by Jackie Houser, attorney and owner at Houser Injury Law.
Change often brings an opportunity to reflect on where we have been, what we have learned, and where we hope to go next. For our team, the transition to Houser Injury Law marks one of those moments.
While the name on the building has changed, the values behind it have not. Our commitment to serving injured individuals and families throughout eastern North Carolina remains as strong as ever. At the same time, this rebrand represents an exciting new chapter for both our firm and the community we serve.
As a young girl, I admired attorneys because they knew all the answers (or so it seemed), and their answers helped solve problems. I dreamed of being an attorney so that I could also help people solve their problems. That dream seemed unlikely, but I didn’t give up. It took a little longer than most for me to complete college and law school, but today I get to do exactly what I dreamed, i.e., helping people solve problems caused through no fault of their own, providing answers in confusing situations, and doing my best to secure the best outcome possible for each client.
For more than 40 years, I have worked in the legal profession and had the privilege to serve clients across Eastern North Carolina. Those experiences have shaped my understanding of what clients need most when facing difficult legal challenges: honest guidance, strong advocacy, and someone willing to listen. Over the last five years, I have focused my practice in Wilmington, building relationships throughout the region and helping clients navigate the often-complicated process that follows a serious injury.
Although Richard Flexner retired several years ago, we proudly carried forward the Flexner Houser Injury Law name during a period of growth and transition for the firm. As our team expanded and our presence in the community continued to grow, it became clear that the time was right for a new chapter. The transition to Houser Injury Law reflects both our evolution as a firm and the reputation we have worked to build throughout eastern North Carolina. While we remain grateful for the foundation that brought us here, the new name represents the future of our practice and our continued commitment to client-focused advocacy.
As our firm has grown, so has my connection to the communities we serve. My son first came to Wilmington for college in 2006 and never left, and my daughter followed a year later, making this region a place that is personally meaningful to us. Today, with offices in Wilmington and Goldsboro, we are proud to serve clients throughout eastern North Carolina while remaining deeply connected to the communities we call home.
At Houser Injury Law, we believe every case begins with a conversation. Behind every claim is a person whose life has been disrupted by injury, uncertainty, lost income, medical expenses, or questions about the future. Our responsibility is not simply to handle the legal aspects of a case, it is to ensure clients feel heard, respected, and confident that someone is fighting for their best interests.
That commitment extends beyond the courtroom. We are passionate about educating the community and helping people understand their rights before they ever need an attorney. Through outreach, community involvement, and accessible legal information, we hope to serve as a resource for individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.
This new name represents more than a rebrand. It reflects who we are, what we value, and the future we are building together. We are excited for this next chapter and grateful for the trust our clients and community continue to place in us.
