WILMA’s 2026 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each other’s personal board of directors.

WILMA’s Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each other’s personal board of directors. The program is part of the WILMA Leadership Initiative, created to empower women to lead with confidence and purpose. Meet institute member McKENZIE LeFLORE.


McKenzie LeFlore

Title:  Employer Development Program Manager

Company:  UNCW Career Center

How long have you been with your current employer?  3 years

Alma Mater:  UNCW

Prior career experience: Before joining the Career Center, I served as a Graduate Assistant in the UNCW Education Abroad Office while earning my Master’s in Higher Education. My prior experience includes five years as an analyst for a research organization, where I focused on higher education policy.

Current job responsibilities: My goal is to connect employers from a wide range of industries with students of all majors. I manage initiatives such as on-campus recruiting events, mentorship programs, the Employer Advisory Board, etiquette dinners, networking events, and other professional development opportunities.

Hobbies: I love walking on the beach, running the loop, or searching for sea glass. When I’m not outside, I’m either watching a movie with my husband and our rescue dog, or at book club.
