WILMA’s 2026 Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each other’s personal board of directors.

WILMA’s Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each other’s personal board of directors. The program is part of the WILMA Leadership Initiative, created to empower women to lead with confidence and purpose. Meet institute member BLAIR GEORGE.

Title:  Professional Development Captain

Company:  New Hanover County Fire Rescue

How long have you been with your current employer?  8 years

Alma Mater:  Cape Fear Community College

Current job responsibilities: Coordinates and instructs training to shift personnel. Manages the department’s training programs, including certification programs and development training, continuing education, and onboarding for all personnel. Serves as program lead; collects, analyzes, and reports program data and makes recommendations based on data. Participates in quarterly and annual representation of program data trends.

Hobbies: Coffee enthusiast, running, being on the water
