WILMA’s Leadership Institute, an annual nine-month program, gives area women the opportunity to learn from leaders in the region, visit a range of local companies, and serve as each other’s personal board of directors. The program is part of the WILMA Leadership Initiative, created to empower women to lead with confidence and purpose. Meet institute member ELLIE EBRAHIMI.
Ellie Ebrahimi

How long have you been with your current employer? Over 8 years
Alma Mater: Clemson University
Current job responsibilities: Dr. Ebrahimi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at UNCW, where she also serves as the undergraduate program coordinator for the CS major. She conducts research in several areas, including the development of eXtended Reality (XR) applications for education and training, STEM education in K–12 settings, and Human–Computer Interaction. In addition to her research and administrative responsibilities, she teaches a variety of courses throughout the year, including game development and introduction to computer science.
Hobbies: Dr. Ebrahimi is a lover of all things active and outdoors. She plays beach volleyball year‑round and enjoys the balance and creativity of Acro Yoga. When she’s not moving, you might find her playing board games, listening to an audiobook or heading out for a round of disc golf. She also loves cooking and cherishing time with friends and family, which keeps her grounded and connected.
