Entrepreneur Honors

The CEAs highlight business owners

Several women-owned businesses are a part of this year’s Coastal Entrepreneur Award winners.

The awards are a joint effort between the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and WILMA’s sister publication Greater Wilmington Business Journal to identify and recognize fast-growing organizations and businesses with the potential to make a significant impact on the region.

Maritime Maids won in the CEA’s minority/women-owned business category. Owner KRYSTINA FUGE (below) founded the interior yacht cleaning company and concierge business in 2020.

Salt & Charm, a personal chef, catering, and meal prep service founded by ABBYE MCGEE, won in the Retail & Hospitality category. (McGee shares a personal recipe in this issue here.)

And Sandbar Oyster Company, which makes Oyster Catcher, a patent-pending biodegradable designed for the creation of living shorelines, oyster-habitat restoration, and oyster aquaculture, won in the biotechnology category. Sandbar is run by the father-and-daughter team NIELS LINDQUIST and MARAE WEST.

All eleven companies honored this year will be recognized May 21 at an awards event where the overall Coastal Entrepreneur of the Year is announced.
