Fashion trends can be fickle friends, gracing your arm one day and then retreating to the back of your closet the next. Sometimes it pays to travel a little further for inspiration. We’re taking a cultural cue from the woven textiles of Mexico and introducing some modern flair.

The brightly colored and patterned fabrics influenced by the traditional serape feel fresh and festive for spring (the Aztecs even believed they attracted luck from the gods), and simple details like a fringed hem or unstructured tie belt convey a playful and adventurous spirit.

If all the pattern proves too much for you, grab a bold, solid-colored top and pair of go-to jeans accented with loosely embroidered or knit accessories to take your look from siesta to fiesta.
