Back In Black
Elevating wardrobe basics

In today's fashion landscape, vivid colors and audacious prints seem to reign supreme. For those who are less than enthused by the trends, however, sporting black or wearing a basic white tee is often the safe bet.
But what if that approach was the new winning strategy?
Set to the backdrop of the posh 1900 Restaurant Lounge, we decided to rethink these underrated wardrobe players. It may be a gamble for those who fear blending in, but when styled just right, these foundational pieces can be the game changer our wardrobes need.

(Left) When wearing so many dark neutrals, don’t rely on a dark makeup palette, too. Avoid the gothic feel with romantic shades of merlot and rose. Gray TANK ($88) and JUMPSUIT ($96), both available at Tusc

(Right) Black is anything but basic when there are rich textures involved. The damask embroidery of this coat is the star of this ensemble. Gray Jamie TEE ($42), available at Edge of Urge; black damask-printed COAT, (pricing upon request), available at Vintage Values; CHOKER (fashion assistant’s own)

(Left) Is there anything that a white tee won’t work well with? We don’t think so. White TEE (model’s own) by Casey Crespo; vintage sequined JACKET (stylist’s own)

(Right) Layer your neutrals effortlessly by incorporating texture. Gray TANK ($88), available at Tusc; black lace DRESS ($86), available at Edge of Urge; studded CLUTCH ($48), available at Soul Shoetique
